It's been a while since I've posted on my blog. A very looong while since I posted. I am a school librarian at a Christian school in Austin. Every Thursday we have chapel during our Bible period. Today during Chapel we had a gentleman speak about not feeling CONFINED being a Christian, but rather enjoying the FREEDOM of a new life that was given to us who have made the decision to be a CHRISTIAN :) One point that the speaker made that stood out to me was the fact that we as human love alot of things that don't return the favor. Whereas with GOD'S LOVE, he always has the BEST in mind for US.
After chapel I walked back to class with a student. I asked her if she enjoyed the lecture, and she felt as though he over exaggerated when discussing the POWER of GOD. I listened and agreed with her. I agreed because I do feel that public speakers often over exaggerate to keep an audiences attention. Nevertheless, after we parted ways I thought about the disconnect with the students and how the administration feels that the students needs are being met.
Now I'm thinking...well as a curious/rebellious teenager what would I want someone to tell me that would be helpful??? Hmmmm truth is probably nothing LOL. BUT after giving it a few minutes of thought after just writing that, I will say that I could have used a lecture on LOVING MYSELF, BEING FEARLESS, & YOU CAN WAIT ON LOVE!!! Most of the other topics and popular sayings relating to cultivating a relationship with GOD and JESUS CHRIST is just as important as the foundation of life, but it's also the SEED of LIFE that will continue to grow and sprout as we get older. Our understanding of GOD'S POWER will be just as RICH & EMPOWERING.
I touch on those issues because I think we all have had some kind of self esteem issues. Some greater than others. We all can use self-esteem boot camp and have truth sessions with ourselves about the things we want to work on changing on the inside and out. In the past, I personally have had no boundaries when it came down to fulfilling my true needs and wants, because I did not think I was important/worthy enough. I have never really allowed myself to get excited about anything! Because of the concept of with every hi there is a low. I'd rather stay in between. But that's NOT LIVING!!!
I have been given permission from GOD to REJOICE!!! He also CREATED ME as his MASTERPIECE. I'M ONE OF A KIND!
Being FEARLESS. Is an important topic to me because sometimes I haven't had the courage to believe in myself and my talents. I AM SOOOO TALENTED! But I tend to get overwhelmed and play the safe card. This doesn't really nurture myself esteem as well. BUT I am being led along my journey to meet beautiful people and I am also being prepared for what will happen next in my path. PRACTICE & PREPARATION are vital. Have you set goals for yourself are you following them? Throughout the journey you will have to make changes along the way, but the goals you set for yourself are still achievable. However, I once received a fortune cookie with a strip that said some thing like "you can't jump a chasm with two jumps" meaning at some point you have to take a leap of faith. I believe this to be true, and I tell myself you are going to have make the leap!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE I do believe in LOVE. Throughout my journey I have misinterpreted what IT is all about. In High School I was head over heels for a guy that didn't know how to love, and I too was too young and very infatuated with "my" idea. That however is all that I focused on! Missing a lot of blessings, and allowing that to control my destiny. Now that I'm at a point of having an open heart to GOD, he is showing me now how to love. It has been a hard process because my mind has it's own way of thinking. But I'm getting there. I not only feel it, but KNOW it. My Uncle always says "it's mind over matter" lol. But GOD has a way of showing us how to do things when we LOVE HIM FIRST!
I say things because GOD has BEEN & CONTINUES to BE GREAT to ME!! and He continues to MOLD ME IN HIS IMAGE. I have a new appreciation for my LORD & SAVIOR EVERYDAY.
